About Boxelder Bugs

During the spring, boxelder bugs emerge from their overwintering sites, such as trees or cracks and crevices in buildings, and begin to feed on plants, trees, and other vegetation. In the fall, they return to these overwintering sites to hibernate, which is when they often become a problem for homeowners. Once boxelder bugs have gotten inside your home you will need to implement some sort of a pest control program to treat them. 

To treat boxelder bugs, it's important to use the right products and pest control techniques. Insecticidal dust and sprays are often used to control boxelder bugs. These treatments work by killing the bugs on contact and preventing new infestations.

At Pest Patrol, we offer a boxelder treatment service that includes two treatments spaced roughly 3 weeks apart. This pest control treatment is recommended to be done in late summer or early fall when boxelder bugs begin to enter attics and cracks/crevices to overwinter, but treatments can be done at any point if boxelder activity becomes too high, particularly in the Spring time when they leave their overwintering sites to go nest in trees.
